Grab a coffee and we’ll have a chat! I’m being absolutely rubbish at this whole being consistent aren’t I? Let’s catch up and share some of what’s going on in my life at the moment.
First of all let me get the excuses out the way. I had that nasty fluey type bug that a lot of people have been struck down with, and it took me awhile to shake it off. Secondly my Husband is changing jobs at the end of the month, and so has had some holiday to spend. We were going to be super productive around the house, but actually we’ve spent a majority of the time just going out and about. And just to let you know this blog isn’t about anything in particular, just really a chatty type and to talk about a few things I’ve been working on.
They say life is something that happens to you when you are not looking, and in a way it does. It’s only when life forces you to stop and have a look around that you can appreciate the road you have travelled. Sometimes that looking back makes us re-evaluate and make changes. During the course of this year I fully intended to make some changes under my own steam, but life events have kind of forced my hand. So changes and new direction have been necessary!
From the end of this month I am going to be a stay at home Mum for a couple of months at least. However I’m not the sort of person who likes to sit around and do nothing. I also don’t particularly like the idea of not contributing to the household finances, so I wanted to think about something I could do from home. I have tried a few cottage industries in the past, but just haven’t had the time to invest in them. Since all the boys are now so much older I’m able to invest a bit more time to it. My latest idea came to me when I overheard a conversation in Hobbycraft. Now when I was organising my wedding 17 years ago you could pretty much get wedding stationary everywhere and anywhere. I bought mine from Debenhams, but you could get it from BHS, Marks and Spencer, and a host of other places. Whilst some of those still do it, the ranges are much much smaller and perhaps don’t cater for all tastes.
The overheard conversation was between a young lady and her mother. They were both talking about the lack of choice with wedding stationary and how they hated the fact they were having to make their own. At that moment I had a light bulb moment and Blossom Cottage Design was born. So the last few weeks I’ve been playing with card and making pretty wedding stuff. I have to say I have always loved glueing and sticking since I was a child, and so right now I’m in total heaven! The domain is mine and a new website is coming! I will probably be posting about my business journey as well.
I’ve also decided to monetize by blog. This is new ground for me and I’ll admit to being very nervous about it. I’ve not earned any money yet as it’s all relatively new, but I am happy to wait and see if it goes anywhere. The other thing I’m considering is live streaming on my Facebook blog page in the future. In the past I have thought about You Tube but that feels a bit too exposed, same with my Instagram. I feel that I can kind of control the audience a bit better on my Facebook page, which feels a bit more like talking to your friends.
So that’s what I’ve been up to the last few weeks. Let me know what you’ve been up to on any of my social media platforms! Oh and I hope you’ve all enjoyed the glorious weather of the last few days.
