July 21st is our wedding anniversay. This week we celebrated a little early by having Afternoon Tea at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel.
The hotel is situated just outside of Chester on the welsh border. It was a lovely sunny day when we went, so we were able to have a walk around the grounds before we actually had our Afternoon Tea. They have a really cute little pavillion where I assume weddings are held. As you can see from the photographs there were flowers hung around and it just looked like it would be totally idyllic on a warm summers day. In fact my head started to run away with me a bit and I started to imagine a vow renewal at sunset in the pavillion.
The Afternoon Tea itself was delicious. The sandwiches were what you would expect, egg, cheese, ham and salmon. The cakes were to die for and my particular favourite was the mini lemon meringue pie.
And then to finish it all off a warm scone with clotted cream and a selection of jams. I honestly don’t have a bad word to say about our experience at the Grosvenor Pulford. The staff were warm, polite and attentive. At £16.50 it’s really affordable and good value. In fact I enjoyed it more than I have enjoyed other Afternoon Tea’s that we have paid a lot more for! If you live locally or are in the area on holiday it’s well worth a visit!
We also get to spend some time on our own on Sunday, so we will be looking for somewhere else locally to eat. If you have any suggestions on where to eat in and around Chester, let me know!
